Canada Class Teacher Thursday and Friday

A big welcome to all of our new children starting nursery this September, and we welcome back all our children starting their second year of nursery with us. We are very excited for the year ahead and look forward to getting to know you all. Miss Dagnall is the class teacher Monday-Wednesday and Mrs Ballard is the class teacher Thursday and Friday. The class is supported by Mrs Morgan, Mrs Shuttlewood,Mrs Eglin and Mrs Stainer.

In nursery, the children learn, by playing and exploring, being active, and being creative and critical thinkers. This takes place both indoors and outside throughout the year. During this half term we will be spending lots of time in our nursery outdoor area where children will be busy planting bulbs and improving their gross motor skills.

This half term we will be busy settling all our children into our class routine, talking about our class rules. Children will be introduced to Marshmallow the monkey;  who loves to be looked after by the children. Each week children will be chosen to take Marshmallow home, to look after and then his diary can be filled in with all of the exciting things he has done with the children.

In Nursery, your children will have a named member of staff, known as a key person. They will spend time with their keyperson towards the end of the Nursery session and in small groups will share where they have enjoyed learning that day and who with.

We also keep track of your children’s learning development by recording observations and placing them in their own learning journey. You too can contribute towards your child’s learning journey by recording an observation on the parents communication sheet which is located by the red box in the cloak room.

Pick up and drop off procedure

Children attending the morning session should enter through the cloakroom door. This door will be unlocked at 8:45 am by a nursery member of staff who will register your child. This door will be locked at 9:00am. Any children arriving late, after 9:00am will need to ring the Children’s Centre door and wait for a member of staff to let them in.

Children arriving for breakfast club before 8:45, leaving Nursery at 11:45 or arriving at 12:15 will continue to use the Children’s Centre entrance.Adults collecting children at the end of the Nursery day, at 3:15pm, are asked to wait under nursery’s sheltered area. Your children will have their belongings, ready for you to collect. A member of staff will then dismiss your children to you. Please let staff know if somebody else is picking your child up.
