Term 6
Year 2 Accelerated Reader
We have recently unlocked the schools link to Accelerated Reader so that your child is able to read and quiz on books from home. Please use the schools URL to take you through to the site. Here your child can use their usual school username and password to access the quizzes.
If your child would like to quiz on a book they have read from home that is not one of our school scheme, they simply need to type in the book's title into the search bar to see if it has a quiz attached.

Writing and Reading

Our next topic is titled 'Carnival of the Animals'; this is a set of poems written by Jack Prelutsky accompanied by the music composed by Camille Saint-Saëns. The children can explore the poems in any way they wish whether that is performance poetry, drama, writing their own story or poem. Books that also link with our topics include, If I ran the Circus by Dr. Seuss and Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne

Children should continue to read books often and be questioned to help them develop their comprehension of the text. We hope their love of reading continues!

All the books can be found on YouTube if you search for the title (Carnival of the Animals Poetry)
