Our School Day

The Avenue Primary School is open for a total of 32 hours and 30 minutes per week.

Start of the school day

The school day starts at 8.30am, with the school gates open for pupils and parents between 8.25am and 8.30am. Pupils will then enter through the playground doors and entering their classrooms. A member of staff will be on the external doors to take any messages at this point of the day. 

The register will be taken at 8.35am, with pupils arriving after 8.35am and before 9.00am being marked as late.

 Arrivals after this time will be marked as absent, using the appropriate register code.

Our afternoon begins at 12.45pm for pupils in Reception, KS1 and Robins, and 1.00pm for pupils in KS2 and Kestrels. The registers will be taken at this time and will be open for ten minutes.

End of the school day

The school gate will be opened at 2.55pm, with pupils being dismissed at 3.00pm from the same playground doors that they entered in the morning. Class teachers will dismiss pupils at this time.

If a pupil attends an after-school club, they will be dismissed from the main entrance at the time the club ends, with the exception of wrap-around care, who have a separate entrance and exit.

Breaktimes

• Morning playtime: 10:35am to 10:50am
• Lunchtime: 12:00pm to 12:45pm or 12:15pm to 1.00pm
